Hey Millennial Women

 

We the women of the United States of America have a real opportunity to elect the first female president of this country.  Secretary Clinton is more qualified than any other person running in this election.  Possibly more qualified and prepared than anyone who has not served in the Presidency.  Despite what those who lack the resume say, qualifications do matter.  If she were a he, I believe that there would be no contest, but such is not the case. 

 

As a matter of fact, she is fielding incoming on all fronts.  Secretary Clinton is fighting brutal attacks on her character from the Republicans (she’s a liar, she can’t be trusted, she’s blindly ambitious, she’s not qualified, etc).  Examine the record.  There have been numerous allegations and investigations through the years, but none of these allegations have a basis in fact, ambitious men are applauded for their drive and there’s no question regarding her qualifications.  But putting all of this aside, do the Republicans really have the standing to call anyone a liar?  Don’t let the Republicans rob you of this opportunity to break that highest glass ceiling.

 

Secretary Clinton is fighting the media.  Again, examine the record.  They say that the electorate is tired of the Clinton drama.  But who’s creating the drama?  Is it Secretary Clinton, or is it the media?  I contend that it’s the media.  For example, they had a feeding frenzy over her email server (deliberately repeating lies and deliberately mischaracterizing her statements).  The media minimizes her strengths and over looks her opponents’ weaknesses.  If the polls are within the margin of error and Clinton is on top, the media reports that Secretary Clinton and her opponent are in a statistical dead heat.  If the opponent is on top, they report that Secretary Clinton is loosing.  Don’t take my word for it, just examine the facts.  Don’t let the media rob you of the opportunity to break that highest glass ceiling.

 

Secretary Clinton is opposing Senator Sanders in the democratic primary election.  Don’t misunderstand me, he’s an interesting candidate.  However, he lacks the breath and depth of knowledge and experience that Secretary Clinton has.  He is a one issue candidate running for the highest office in a very complicated country.   Don’t take my word for it, listen to him.  All of the problems in this country exist because of income inequality and rich people.  What do you know about his record or his accomplishments?  He usually votes with the progressives, but has he ever move legislation to law? 

 

 

The Republicans, the media, and Senator Sanders have presented Secretary Clinton as the prohibitive front runner.  They say that the Democratic establishment has coroneted her as the Democratic nomine.  Labeling her this way allows them to discount her successes (she was expected to win anyway) and exaggerate her losses (how could she loose to a self avowed socialist).  Her detractors say that she’s dishonest, but if you check the record, she follows through on her promises both professionally and personally.  Don’t take it from me, listen to her colleagues and life long friends (how many of us maintain life long friends).  Every female US Senator, save one, is pledging their support for her.  How many of Senator Sander’s colleagues are pledging support for him?  Don’t miss this opportunity to break that highest glass ceiling.

 

Let’s face it.  Secretary Clinton is not perfect, she has her faults, but we all have faults.  She is not a natural politician.  She doesn’t easily connect with people and she is not comfortable talking about herself.  Given her history with the media and the Republicans, do you blame her?  That doesn’t make her dishonest, it just makes her cautious. 

 

I expected the attacks from the usual suspects, (the Republican, the media, democratic opponents), what I didn’t expect, and what I’m most disappointed in is the lack of critical thinking and support from millennial females.  You are correct when you say that you should not vote for her just because she’s a woman.  I say that you should not vote for Senator Sanders just because you think he’s cool.  Do your homework.  Can he deliver on his promises?  I say no.  Don’t take my word for it, check the record.  He says that he will bring about a political revolution, by bring millions of new voters into the political process.  To date, there have been fewer democratic voters in this primary season than for the same primary elections in 2012.  A revolution, really?  He’s held public office for 34 years.  In those 34 years, has he brought about a revolution?  What makes you think that he can do it in our current political climate if he hasn’t been able to do it in 34 years?

 

Know how your government works.  He can not deliver without the support of the Congress.  Think about this, the polls show that 80% of the American people are in favor of common sense gun safety legislation.  Do we have that legislation yet?  Don’t be distracted by that bright shiny object dangling in your face.  This is serious business.  Take a step back and look at what Secretary Clinton and Senator Sanders are saying.  If you listen carefully, there is little difference in their objectives.  I believe that Secretary Clinton is offering a means to make those objectives a reality.  Don’t take my word for it. Look at their body of accomplishments.  Determine which among the two has a track record of moving their policies forward, of accomplishing their goals.  Don’t miss this opportunity to break that highest glass ceiling.

 

Why do you think that this country has never elected a female to the highest office in the land?  Is it a lack of experience, a lack of ambition or is it that elephant that’s been in the room for so long that we don’t even see it anymore?  Don’t miss this opportunity to break that highest glass ceiling.  Don’t vote for her because she’s a woman, vote for her because she is the most qualified individual, man or woman in this race.
